本會於一九六三年創立，初名為
『香港痙攣兒童協會』。其後將服務擴展至
成人，並於一九六七年易名為『香港痙攣協會』。
隨著會務之發展，協會更於一九六七年
立案註冊為法定社團至今。
2008年2月，協會正式改名為「香港耀能協會」英文名稱「SAHK」。
「耀能」代表服務使用者能夠運用天賦的才能及後天的努力，發揮所長，展耀光輝。
英文名稱SAHK，標誌我們「耀承所授、卓越展能」「Succeed & Advance」的決心。
The Association originated in 1963 as "The Hong Kong Association for
the Spastic Children". In 1967, with the inclusion of services for adults,
it
was renamed as "The Spastics Association of Hong Kong".
The Association was formally incorporated under
the Company Ordinance in 1976
In February 2008, the Association officially changed the name to “SAHK”,
the Chinese name “香港耀能協會”. The new Chinese name carries the connotation of the
service users bringing, both inborn and learnt abilities, into full play.
The English name, SAHK, signifies our determination to “Succeed and Advance”.
